Reasons Why It’s Still Valuable to Schedule Posts Directly on Facebook

Advantages of Scheduling Posts Directly in Facebook

Call me crazy, or even plain stupid! But after years of trying to schedule Facebook posts with different social media management tools with lots of issues, I have just stopped using them at least for Facebook posts. Here’s Why:

Broken Links

When using social media management tools & backlinking services, to schedule posts in general you run the risk of sometimes having broken links especially when using link shorteners. I’ve experienced this issue a over a dozen times and the really sad thing is sometimes I never get to know about what’s going on until someone prompts me. What this means that it probably means that a lot of people have experienced the issue who could have read your posts, visited your website or even made a sale! It could a huge missed opportunity.

Images not Displayed

While most social media management tools seem to have image previews for each scheduled posts, sometimes the images don’t get displayed in the actual post that is published. I really think that’s really deceptive because I used to schedule posts thinking that everything is ok. With a social media site like Facebook that is very visually driven, having an image displayed that resonates with people could be what makes your post viral or not.

Showing Posted by on my Facebook Posts

Ok, I understand that every social media management company is trying to advertise, but seriously, who really wants their competition to know the type of tools that they are using so easily without even having to try research?

Hosting Images on Separate Landing Pages Away From Facebook

This feature maybe something that is peculiar to social media management applications such as Hootsuite. I actually stopped using Hootsuite entirely and moved to Buffer just because of this. The whole point of posting an image on Facebook, or any other social media site for that matter, is so that people who use the site can easily access and share it. WITHIN that medium. If a user has to choose between navigating away to look at your company posts and the gooey-eyed expression that they have from looking at “the pictures of the seemly awesome time that their friend with a perfect life is having,” who do you think will win?

I may not have the magical tool that does it all! I’m sure there might be tools out there that meet the criteria above. However, I think that I’ll rather take my chances, of using a much more trusted way to post on Facebook than to trust another application to do it.

Note: I still use social media management tools to schedule posts for other social media sites but mainly not for important posts on Facebook.

  • A very good article. I have faced ALL above mentioned problems with using a marketing tool to schedule posts on facebook and I very much agree to your points. Posting on Google Plus using a scheduling tool poses the same problems (at times) as well. Thank you for writing the article Hellen.
